Inspired by real events on 13th October 2021 when Star Trek legend William Shatner was launched into space, these paintings pay a humorous homage to Jeff Bezos and his Blue Origin space program.
Our human desire and capability for exploring new territories is immense. Painting itself is a process of delving into the unknown and whether that journey begins on a screen, a sheet of paper or canvas, there is always the hope and intention to break new ground and make new discoveries.
Art can be a place where different realities combine and new narratives begin. The space that arises is often fuzzy or multi-layered; where each level can be hard to separate from another.
My project explores the phenomena and event of 13/10/2021 where several dimensions and narratives met and merged into reality through the wormhole of space… Bezos as Kirk, William Shatner as space traveller. On another level it is also my own exploration into the world of nfts and nftart a seemingly alien world existing in its own alternate dimension whilst penetrating into our own.
